A client's posture provides much information regarding the natural state of their tissues. Through postural analysis it is possible to determine which areas of their body are under more strain than others, and which muscle groups are causing this strain.
Therapy causes expansion and contraction of the circulatory system, improving the function of your lymphatic and immune systems, and enhancing your body’s self-healing mechanisms. This style of bodywork takes you into deep states of relaxation, releasing stress and anxiety, detoxifying the body, and balancing your nervous system.
Therapy is one of the oldest health care practices known to history. References to massage are found in Chinese medical texts more than 4,000 years old. Relaxation massages are generally performed in 60 or 90 minute sessions; however, a 30 minute massage focused on a specific area provides opportunities for relaxation thus providing an increase in well-being, reducing stress and boosting the body’s immune system. Services may be combined for your personal needs.
Therapy is a type of alternative therapy that originated in China. It involves placing cups on the skin to create suction. The suction may facilitate healing with blood flow. Proponents also claim the suction helps facilitate the flow of “qi” in the body. Qi is a Chinese word meaning life force. A famous Taoist alchemist and herbalist, Ge Hong, reportedly first practiced cupping. He lived from A.D. 281 to 341. Many Taoists believe that cupping helps balance yin and yang, or the negative and positive, within the body. Restoring balance between these two extremes is thought to help with the body’s resistance to pathogens as well as its ability to increase blood flow and reduce pain. Cupping increases blood circulation to the area where the cups are placed. This may relieve muscle tension, which can improve overall blood flow and promote cell repair. It may also help form new connective tissues and create new blood vessels in the tissue.
ACUPRESSURE & MERIDIAN MASSAGE
Therapy may include the use of one or more techniques such as muscle energy techniques, myofascial release, trigger & acupressure point to address client specific issues. Acupressure applies finger or thumb pressure to specific points located on the acupuncture meridians (channels of energy flow identified in Asian concepts of anatomy) in order to release blocked energy along these meridians that causes physical discomforts, and re-balance the energy flow. Shiatsu is a Japanese form of acupressure. This process can be painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative. Client feedback during the session is necessary. May or may not include a full body massage depending on the number of issues addressed and the time allotted. Appointments may be scheduled for 30, 60, 90, or 120 minutes.
THAI HERBAL COMPRESSING BALL MASSAGE
Therapy performed for hundred of years and known to provide deep relaxation while relieving stress and fatigue, and improving health. The therapy relies on the use of hot compresses or "poultices" filled with a selection of herbs and spices. Those compresses, generally wet and then steamed, are gently applied to specific points of the body releasing their healing benefits into the pores of the skin. They can be combined with the use of hands to focus the massage on knots.
Duet Pilates Sessions
Duet sessions provide a more economical form of semi-private training. The key is finding a partner with a similar fitness level to yours - which is the responsibility of the client. We recommend clients begin their Pilates practice with a postural analysis and a few private sessions before taking duets. Duets are 55 minutes long.
